Upside Metallurgy has a focus of delivering higher productivity at lower cost. With a highly production-orientated approach, we thrive on solving niggling or major production issues, and finding creative ways to de-bottleneck process areas. This will often involve a site visit to analyse circuit performance, review production data and observe operational practices.

Metallurgical Accounting

With broad experience in designing, managing and auditing metallurgical accounting systems on a site level, Upside Metallurgy can be an outside set of eyes to ensure compliance to good practice and standards. An in-depth audit process has been developed by Upside Metallurgy to cover every facet of the metallurgical accounting process from sampling and stream measurement, right through to month-end reporting. We can also assist in developing, updating or streamlining daily and month-end metallurgical accounting processes.

Metallurgical Testwork

Upside Metallurgy has extensive experience in developing metallurgical testwork flowsheets on new and existing ores for either scoping, pre-feasibility or feasibility studies. Our approach is to work with both geological and metallurgical teams on site to develop a methodology around obtaining met testing samples that are representative of the ore to be tested, develop flow sheets that tests amenability to mill design criteria, and work with commercial laboratories to carry out the test work.

We can also provide technical guidance in developing and maintaining Geo-Metallurgical models for existing ores, to ensure continuity between metallurgical testwork and process performance.

Mill Design and Commissioning

With strong production-based experience in minerals including gold, silver, copper, nickel, lead and zinc, we can assist in design and commissioning of new and upgraded plants. Our process exposure is across a range of process areas, including crushing, grinding, gravity separation, gold leaching, flotation, gold elution and electrowinning, concentrate roasting, calcine leaching, filtering, thickening, heap leach, solvent extraction, and electrowinning.

Budgeting/Forecasting

With extensive experience in budget setting and reviewing, we can assist you by optimising mill throughput from mining schedules, and developing costs based on processing requirements. We can also be tasked with conducting a rationalisation exercise, where we can draw on experience to look for potential cost savings and productivity improvements.

Toll Treatment Agreements

With experience in toll treatment contract management, we can assist in negotiating, reviewing and managing contracts for either client or customer, and can provide resources to manage the production side of toll campaigns.

Database/Report Development

Upside Metallurgy understands the importance of obtaining quality data so that informed operational decisions can be made. With in-depth experience in database design, development and report writing, we can work with your team to develop streamlined processes of collecting data to produce quality reports.

Training

Given the resources, the development of up-and-coming metallurgists will accelerate with close guidance and strong mentoring. Having been on the receiving end of mentoring, we strive to play a part in developing the next generation of metallurgists. We can assist in tailoring a plan for development from graduate to senior metallurgical roles, and can even play a part in mentoring, training and professional development.
